Gower College Swansea has appointed two brand new student photographers to help capture the many activities and events that take place throughout the academic year.
Nikkila Thomas, who is studying A Levels in photography, music and law at the Gorseinon campus, has already established herself as a freelance photographer for the Llanelli Star and is particularly interested in event photography and portraits. In addition, she has worked with local theatrical groups and as a stills photographer for a film group who are in the process of creating their own comedy.
Ben Murphy is taking the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography at the Llwyn y Bryn campus. His personal style is based around documentary photography and he also has prior commercial experience. London-based Zero Magazine has published his images of live music events taken across the UK and he has also exhibited in local cafes including La Parmigiana and the Square Peg, where he held a month long exhibition of his work.
Many of the college’s past student photographers – including Laura Condon and Tom Proudfoot – have gone on to build careers in the industry.
