This week, an exhibition of adult learners’ work was displayed to celebrate the Adult Learning Partnership Swansea (ALPS).
The celebration took place on 7 November alongside a UNESCO planning event. The latter welcomed both formal and informal learning groups to help plan a celebration of Swansea's tenth anniversary of the UNESCO Learning City Award.
Visitors enjoyed speaking to students and learning about the fantastic artwork on display at the Brangwyn Hall’s George Hall, which was submitted by adult learners from across the city.
Funded by the Welsh Government, the Adult Learning Partnership Swansea (ALPS) is a collective of prominent institutions that works to provide a broad range of accredited and non-accredited courses across the City and County of Swansea to meet the diverse needs of learners.
"Seeing the work of adult learners on display is a testament to the power and impact of lifelong learning. The Adult Learning Partnership Swansea (ALPS) celebration event highlighted the success of these learners and shines as a beacon of inspiration for all. Their dedication and achievements are truly remarkable," says Kelly Fountain, Principal of Gower College Swansea and Chair of the Adult Learning Partnership.
Cllr. Alyson Anthony said “The Lifelong Learning Service is proud to be a member of the Adult Learning Partnership Swansea. The Celebration Event highlights the fantastic work of our Tutors and the achievements of our Learners and gives us the opportunity to showcase the wonderful work being done across the City. Being an UNESCO Learning City for the past ten years highlights our commitment as a Council to developing a learning culture across the City.”
"As a member of the partnership, we appreciate being part of this event as we are incredibly proud of the successes of our brilliant learners along with the excellent work of our tutors who open doors to the Welsh language and its culture to hundreds of learners in the region every year. It is therefore entirely appropriate to have such an event to celebrate these achievements," adds Iestyn Llwyd, Pennaeth Dysgu Cymraeg Ardal Bae Abertawe / Head of Learn Welsh Swansea Bay Region
"Since its re-ignition and rebranding in 2023, the ALPS Partnership has grown from strength to strength; the partners are sharing good practices, collaborating on projects and, most importantly, creating new opportunities for adults living in the Swansea region. This celebration event is a showcase of both learners’ and tutors' achievements over the past year. We would like to congratulate all involved and look forward to developing the ALPS Partnership over the next year, " says Alex Lloyd, Marketing and Communications Manager at Adult Learning Wales.
We would like to thank all the students and staff from across the Partnership for sharing their incredible work and giving up their time to attend the event.
