Congratulations to the Housing team on winning the Pencampwr Cymraeg Assessor award in the Annual Apprenticeship Awards on the 6th February 2023.
A team of dedicated staff, totally committed to our mission as an organisation to embrace and develop the learners’ Welsh language skills at all levels. The team manager Lucy Bird is incredibly supportive and encouraging them to build on the bilingual ethos of the College.
All of the staff have attended training sessions on embedding Welsh either internally and with Sgiliaith, two are attending Work Welsh courses to learn Welsh. All of their learners are completing their appropriate level of Prentis Iaith.
Sgiliaith recently appointed a new member of staff, Llŷr Ap Gruffydd through funding received from the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, whom will give learners more opportunities to study bilingually or through the medium of Welsh. Llŷr will be completing his TAQA with Marie Allen who will support Llyr to complete his qualification in Welsh.
The fact that the awarding body has translated resources with a grant from Qualifications Wales and City and Guilds have prepared all documentation in Welsh, enabling a full bilingual journey.
Many learners studying for the Housing qualifications have Welsh language skills which we are supporting them to follow the course utilising and developing these skills in their sector and workplace.
