At the close of another academic year, Gower College Swansea hosted its much-anticipated annual summer Staff Wellbeing Day on 3 July 2025, where over 300 staff were able to access over 40 separate activities.
This year’s event offered teaching and support staff a wide range of opportunities to unwind and recharge, featuring activities such as line dancing, shamanic healing, seated chair massage, hanging basket tutorial, cold water therapy, hot pod yoga, and silversmithing.
In addition, staff accessed expert advice on diverse topics including legal matters, men’s health, general health and fitness, and details on the College’s Cycle to Work scheme. Complementing the day’s activities was a delicious selection of nutritious street food.
The Wellbeing Day continues to be a standout fixture on the College calendar, providing a valuable space for colleagues and friends to connect, relax, and try new wellbeing experiences free of charge.
“It’s wonderful to offer such a broad and engaging programme again this summer—there really is something for everyone at our Wellbeing Days,” said Vice Principal for People and Wellbeing, Sarah King. “A heartfelt thanks to everyone who organised or participated in activities, and to all our corporate and community partners whose ongoing support is invaluable.”
This was echoed by one staff member who commented that “the wellbeing day is an amazing opportunity enabling all staff to access a variety of activities, which helps to improve your wellbeing, mental health, fitness and communication with colleagues across all campuses. A fantastic day one of my favourite days of the academic year”.
The event capped off a remarkable year for health and wellbeing at Gower College Swansea.
The College has seen huge success this year, being nominated finalists for several awards:
