Performing Arts Level 2 - Diploma
Overview
This UAL (University of the Arts London) Level 2 Performing Arts 1 year course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs. It is designed for aspiring performers who have a passion for the creative arts. You will be provided with a breadth of study across the disciplines of acting, dance, singing and theatre production covering a range of skills such as:
- Acting technique
- Scripted performance
- Musical Theatre performance
- Improvisation
- Ensemble singing
- Movement
- Ballet
- Theatre Production.
During the course you will be assessed through your performance projects which are supported by the completion of a written assignment. The course aims to provide a solid foundation in performing arts and equip students with the necessary knowledge and techniques to pursue further studies.
By the end of the course, students will have enhanced their confidence, creativity, teamwork, and communication skills, while also gaining an understanding of the performing arts sector.
Key information
- 1 GCSE at grade D or above, or Level 1 Diploma Merit profile
- Interest and willingness to participate in all performance activities is essential
- Performance experience in dance, acting and singing would be an advantage.
The Level 2 Performing Arts course is taught at the Arts Block at Gorseinon campus.
It is delivered through a variety of engaging and interactive teaching methods.
Students will participate in practical workshops, rehearsals, and performances, allowing them to develop their skills and understanding of the performing arts environment. The course is assessed through a combination of practical assessments and written assignments.
Assessment criteria focus on students' ability to demonstrate their understanding of performing arts techniques, their performance skills, and their ability to reflect and evaluate on their progression. This approach ensures that students receive comprehensive feedback and enables them to continuously improve their abilities.
Successful completion of the Level 2 Performing Arts course opens up a range of progression opportunities for students. They may choose to continue their studies at Level 3, undertaking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts or a similar qualification. The skills gained throughout the course will also be valuable in other creative industries, such as event management, marketing, or arts administration.
As part of the course you will attend trips to external venues, view performance work on line and fully participate in workshops from guest practitioners. The Level 2 has a course fee of £150.
