Overview
This one year course builds on the knowledge and skills needed for working with children and young people from birth to age 19. Areas of study include:
- Communication
- Personal development
- Introduction to equality and inclusion
- Child and young person development
- Safeguarding
- Health and wellbeing, learning and development
- Professional practice
- Develop further understanding of child development and childcare services in Wales

Employment in the sector for 16 hours a week.
You will also complete the core qualification alongside this course. This course will include a work placement.
Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Care Learning and Development or the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.
