Overview
The Legal Services Level 3 course develops the required skills, knowledge and professional expertise to become a successful paralegal/legal assistant, a role that plays a crucial function in the legal sector.
This is a highly practical programme, where you will learn core professional skills such as commercial awareness, professional ethics and communication. It delivers critical legal knowledge to allow prospective paralegals and legal assistants to provide support and guidance to teams operating in a variety of legal practice areas.
The Legal Services Level 3 course is suitable for both new and existing team members within the legal sector and is available from September 2024.
This course is available both as a part-time option and as an apprenticeship.
Key information
If learners have not achieved GCSE A-C grades (or equivalent), they must also complete Essential Skills qualifications in Application of Number, Communication and Digital Literacy.
To be eligible for apprenticeship funding, you must be employed for more than 16 hours per week and based in Wales. Learners must also be fully supported by the employer.
This course is delivered in person at our Sketty Hall Business School.
Learners will study five modules (in addition to one e-module):
- Legal Systems
- The Law of Tort
- Contract Law
- Introduction to Property and Private Client
- Professional and Legal Skills
- Ethics and Professional Responsibility 1 (e-module).
Upon completion of the course, paralegals will have a wide range of career opportunities available, with typical roles including:
- Paralegal
- Legal Assistant
- Legal Administrator
- Legal Secretary
- Junior Fee Earner/Case Handler.
Learners can continue to work as a practicing paralegal, or progress onto a Level 5 higher apprenticeship in Advanced Paralegal.
