Enterprise Manager Sue Poole in the running for two awards

Sue Poole, Enterprise Manager at Gower College Swansea and CEO / Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Education (C4EE) has been shortlisted for not one but two awards over the coming weeks.

Sue, who set up the award-winning C4EE in 2014, has been nominated in the ‘#GoDo Entrepreneur of the Year’ category at the 2017 NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards taking place in Cardiff on 4 October.

Just two days later, at Swansea’s Marriott Hotel, Sue will find out if she has scooped the award for ‘Mentor of the Year’ at the Women in Business Awards 2017 – a title she took in 2012.

C4EE came about when Sue, who had delivered enterprise skills across the further education sector for over 10 years, felt the need to engage with younger children to embed that all-important enterprising mindset.

“My vision was and is to develop a generation of young people who are able to confidently connect with businesses and communities, and who will create a more prosperous and rewarding future for themselves and others through their entrepreneurial skills,” says Sue.

The nominations have come at a particularly exciting time for Sue and the C4EE team as they prepare to expand their Bee Enterprising ‘Bumbles of Honeywood’ programme across primary schools in Wales and to children as young as five.

“We have developed a series of six educational books which explore the environmental plight of the bee population,” says Sue. “Each story is set in the community of Honeywood and focuses on the Bumble Family as they overcome different problems using their enterprising skills.

“The books introduce the students to the essential entrepreneurial skills needed to be successful in life - skills that have been highlighted by the Welsh Government as vitally important for our youngsters to achieve successful futures.”
