The objectives of this course are to help you understand the responsibilities of the accountant and the impact of their recommendations on business and the wider environment.

You will build knowledge and understanding of key concepts, principles and techniques that apply to real life scenarios. You will develop your ability to solve problems logically, analyse data methodically, make reasoned choices and communicate effectively.

There is an option to study industry qualifications with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) to enhance your future employability.

Key information

  • A minimum of seven GCSEs at grades A*-C
  • To include minimum B grades in both English Language and Mathematics.

This A Level full-time course is delivered through a variety of teaching methods and the work is based on real-life industry situations, which call for accuracy and the ability to handle a large volume of information.

The course is of a practical nature with a great deal of student participation. Group work is encouraged, and independent study is essential. It is a linear qualification and is assessed by two examinations at the end of Year 2. There are no AS examinations at the end of Year 1.

After studying A Levels, many students become qualified accountants by progressing either to university or to the AAT Level 4 course which is delivered at our Sketty Hall Business School. Higher education courses taught at Gower College Swansea include HND Business Management and BA Business Management (both franchised from the University of South Wales).
