Around 300 Higher Education students from Gower College Swansea attended a special graduation event at the Swansea Arena on 16 November 2022. A celebration held for the achievements of students studying higher education and professional programmes at the College for number of catch-up awarding years that were unable to celebrate during the pandemic, and our most recent graduates.
"It’s been a few years since we held a graduation, we are recognizing the achievements of students and their qualifications over the last three to four years.” says Principal Mark Jones. "It’s a fantastic event, great to see students with their families and friends celebrating across a wide range of higher education courses and an opportunity for the College to celebrate"
The College works with several universities including the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, the University of South Wales, and the University of Gloucestershire. As well as professional awarding bodies to help achieve these qualifications.
Some of our students donned their caps and gowns to celebrate achievements in higher level courses such as business, science, computing, engineering, childcare, housing, and many more.
"After three years of waiting, knowing students have been facing so many hardships and working really hard to get their qualifications, but not being able to celebrate has been a frustration for us all." says Nikki Neale, Director of Quality and Curriculum. "To be in an amazing space this year, with graduates, and their families is just fantastic, it’s been long overdue. Most of our learners are graduating with full time jobs, families and to balance that with being a graduate is such an achievement and makes Gower College Swansea proud."
The College also awarded a College Fellowship, which is the recognition by the College Governors of an individual who have made an outstanding contribution to either the College, to education or the city of Swansea.
Chairman of the College’s Governing Body, Meirion Howells presented these awards, giving a big congratulations to Joanna Page for an outstanding contribution to film, theatre, and television and for continually raising the profile of Swansea on both a national and international stage.
Rob Stewart, Leader City and County of Swansea also received a huge congratulations for an outstanding contribution to the economic regeneration in Swansea and for continuing to raise the profile of the city on both a national and international stage.
Once again, we give warm congratulations to all our students that graduated from Gower College Swansea. They are a credit to themselves, their families, their employers and to the College and we wish them well in their future careers and look forward to hearing of their continued success.
