As a result of a £2m investment by Gower College Swansea, students at the Gorseinon Campus will soon be able to take a break between classes in a brand new social space – the Coffee Hut.
The Gorseinon Coffee Hut, which has been officially opened by Secretary of State for Wales, Alun Cairns MP, is a first floor extension to the existing refectory block.
Featuring a Costa Coffee retail outlet, it is a light and airy space for students to relax together and have a bite to eat.
“We are delighted that our students can now enjoy this new, improved social space which we’ve created to make their time at the College as enjoyable and comfortable as possible,” says Principal Mark Jones. “We believe our new facilities – not forgetting the £4m redevelopment of the Tycoch Campus that was launched earlier this year - reflect the College’s goal to provide students with the very best overall experience during their time with us.”
“For many students, having access to a work space with enough seating and reliable Wi-Fi can make all the difference in helping them gain valuable qualifications and realise their potential,” says Secretary of State for Wales, Alun Cairns. “As Gower College Swansea goes from strength to strength, the UK Government will continue to ensure colleges such as these can provide people with the skills they need to succeed, as well as securing jobs and attracting valuable investment in every part of Wales.”
The Gorseinon Campus is home to students on a range of vocational and A Level courses – it has, in fact, the largest A Level cohort of any educational institution in Wales. It is also home to the College’s ever-growing International provision.
