Following an impromptu visit from Environmental Health in early March, Gower College Swansea is delighted to confirm that the Vanilla Pod restaurant and training kitchens at Tycoch have retained their food hygiene rating of 5.
“This is excellent news,” says Learning Area Manager Mark Clement. “It’s extremely important that we continue to promote high standards of food hygiene and preparation to all our learners. Not only are we equipping them with essential employability skills, this 5-star rating also helps reassure our valued customers that we place hygiene and health and safety at the very top of our priority list.”
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) helps consumers choose where to eat out or shop for food by telling them how seriously the business takes food hygiene standards.
Each business is given their hygiene rating when it is inspected by a food safety officer from the business’s local authority. At the end of the inspection, the business is given one of the six ratings from 0-5.
The top rating of 5 means that the business was found to have ‘very good’ hygiene standards.
