Sewing Skills for Beginners
Overview
Ever dreamed of bringing your creative ideas to life through fabric? This beginner sewing course is the perfect starting point for anyone with little or no experience who wants to learn essential sewing techniques in a friendly, supportive environment.
Perfect for those new to sewing, this course introduces you to using a domestic sewing machine and overlocker. You’ll gain essential troubleshooting skills and create a simple sewn item, such as a stylish tote bag, to practice and build confidence in core techniques.
Designed with complete beginners in mind, the course provides step-by-step guidance to help you understand essential tools, materials, and processes. You’ll learn how to set up and safely operate a sewing machine, and practice key skills such as straight stitching, seam finishing, pressing, and basic construction methods.
Throughout the course, you’ll complete a series of achievable projects that reinforce your learning while encouraging creativity. By the end, you’ll have developed a strong foundation in sewing, along with the confidence to continue independently or progress to more advanced garment-making courses.
What you'll need
All essential sewing and pattern cutting equipment is provided, but owning a sewing machine is highly recommended to practice your skills outside of lessons.
