Overview
Are you working in construction, infrastructure or building services and ready to move into a management role?
Or are you considering a career change into the ever-growing Construction sector and looking for a qualification that fits around your life and current work?
Construction Managers coordinate and direct site activities, bringing together architects, engineers, commercial managers and site specialists to turn a construction concept into reality. The role requires both project management and people skills, the ability to manage risk and to creatively problem solve on-the-go.
This practical, part-time (one day a week), Pearson Construction Management Higher National Certificate will equip you with a solid foundation in construction management principles, construction technology, digital applications for construction information, health and safety regulations, tender and procurement, science and materials and principles of alternative energy. It can be studied part time or through an apprenticeship route.
The Higher National Certificate is equivalent to the first year of a BEng Construction Management degree. It gives you access to a range of site and office-based construction roles. You can also choose to top up your qualification to a Higher National Diploma or a full BEng or MEng degree.
You'll be taught in small, interactive groups by industry experts who build your learning around real-world case studies. We will work with you as an individual to provide the skills support you need, whether that is maths confidence, presentation skills or formal writing. The Construction Management programme content is informed by our Built Environment Industrial Panel with representatives from Andrew Scott, Tai Tarian and other local and national employers. You will be learning contemporary methods valued by employers.
