Ceramics – One Day Workshop
Overview
In this one day workshop, you’ll experiment and explore the various ways you can work with clay. Whether you’re a complete beginner, or looking to expand your practice, this course offers a welcoming space to experiment, explore and build confidence across a range of clay processes and techniques.
You’ll gain both practical skills and an understanding of the theory behind ceramic making, exploring various hand building and mould making methods, including:
- Slab building
- Water erosion
- Scraffitio
- Working with metal oxides and carbonate
- Press mouldings
- Slip decoration
- Surface decoration
- Clay marbling
- Glazing.
Full health and safety guidance will be provided throughout the day, so you can practice safety and confidently.
By the end of the course, you’ll leave with a unique ceramic artefact that you have created.
Key information
No previous experience is necessary, just an interest in related subject areas.
This course is delivered in the art and design studios at our Llwyn y Bryn campus in Uplands.
Progression from any part-time course could offer a pathway to full-time courses in art and design. For adult learners considering a creative career, the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design course could provide a progression route for this.
