Overview

This two year Higher National Certificate course provides individuals working in the chemical and related industries with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to succeed in employment. Learners will develop a range of skills, techniques and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

  • Access to HE Diploma - Pass
  • A Level - DD
  • BTEC L3 Extended Diploma - PPP
  • BTEC L3 90-Credit Diploma - MM.

Applied Sciences (Chemistry Pathway)

First year

  • Unit 1: Fundamentals of Laboratory Techniques (Mandatory)
  • Unit 2: Scientific Data Handling Approaches and Techniques (Mandatory)
  • Unit 7: Inorganic Chemistry (Mandatory)
  • Unit 8: Organic Chemistry (Mandatory).

Second year

  • Unit 3: Regulation and Quality in the Applied Sciences (Pearson - set)
  • Unit 9: Physical Chemistry
  • Unit 64: Work Based Investigation
  • Unit 73: Environmental Pollutants and Water Testing.

Progression on to an undergraduate degree in applied chemistry or a related area.
