Gower College Swansea’s Annual Student Awards event, which is organised by the in-house Marketing team, has been highly commended in the prestigious College Marketing Network/FE First Awards for Marketing Excellence.
The Annual Awards, which caters for over 200 people and takes place every June at the Liberty Stadium, was shortlisted in the Events Management category.
Gower College Swansea’s Annual Student Awards is an opportunity to celebrate the success of all learners whether full time school leavers, part time adult learners, apprentices, higher education students, 14-16 provision pupils or those on employer training courses.
The evening highlights the achievements of individual students as well as recognising everyone who has played a key role in their success including their families, friends, lecturers and employers.
The event is planned, organised and delivered by the Marketing team who oversee all elements of the evening from liaising with the venue and booking a guest speaker (this year it was world class soprano and former student Elin Manahan Thomas), to coordinating the guest list, arranging photography and video coverage and all aspects of public relations and social media.
The Annual Awards have grown considerably in recent years, both in terms of size and ambition, and has become the perfect vehicle to strengthen the existing links between the College, local employers and community partners, many of whom have come on board as event sponsors.
“We were really pleased to represent Wales at the FE First Awards and are proud to have been highly commended in what was a really competitive category,” says Marketing and Admissions Manager, Marie Szymonski. “Our Annual Awards event requires months of planning, all of which is undertaken alongside busy day-to-day workloads. It is fantastic that this hard work, attention to detail and careful preparation has been recognised.”
In their feedback, the organisers of the FE First Awards described the Gower College Swansea awards as “a great event which really meets the objectives…and celebrates students’ achievements, not just academic but their entire journey…the event involves the whole College and builds strong relationships with local businesses, promoting the work of the College across the local business sector.”
