Former Bridge student Demi Hendra has successfully progressed onto a full time vocational course in Motor Vehicle Maintenance at our Tycoch campus.
The Bridge Programme is aimed at young people aged 16-19 who are undecided about their future career path.
“Demi is really enjoying her course which will hopefully lead to further progression in the automotive industry," says tutor Maria Francis. “Demi is a hard working student who is always eager to learn new skills and her ambition now is to gain a place on an apprenticeship scheme.”
Demi, who passed the Bridge Programme with top marks last year, added: “Moving onto a mainstream program at college has given me the opportunity to move forward in my career. I am enjoying my course, especially the practical elements of the work. Before starting on the Bridge Programme I was unsure about what I wanted to do and the course offered me different opportunities with different subjects - this kept me interested as no two subjects were the same.”
The Bridge gives students an opportunity to sample a range of different subject areas. It enables them to make informed decisions about their next step and equips them with skills and qualities that are required by employers and which make them better prepared for the world of work.
