Overview

This qualification provides a general introduction to the housing sector. It will give you a basic knowledge of housing, and introduce some of the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in housing related activities.

This Level 2 qualification is suitable for anyone new to housing (social housing or the private related sector), or working in a frontline position who want to improve their awareness of housing or gain a recognised qualification.

The qualification is also suitable for tenants, residents or board members who want to enhance their knowledge and understanding of housing, along with volunteers in housing who want to gain an initial qualification.

The qualification is also available to those not currently working in housing, but are considering a frontline housing position as a career option.

Key information

The qualification can be delivered flexibly to suit the needs of learner and employer, which can include face-to-face and remote delivery, or a blended approach.

Learners will be allocated a dedicated trainer, who will work closely with both learner and employer to ensure the level and units selected are relevant to the role and organisational priorities.

Learners will attend half-day workshops every six weeks to gain the underpinning knowledge needed for each unit. Dates and sessions will be agreed at the beginning of the qualification. The learning will be supported in the workshops, but your trainer will be available through email or phone throughout the qualification to provide advice and support.

Units

  • Housing provision and housing organisations
  • Customer service for housing
  • Professional development in housing
  • Asset repairs and maintenance

To successfully complete the qualification, learners will undertake an assignment at the end of each module to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. Assessments will differ for each unit, and will include in-class activities and post-class activities.

Throughout the duration of the studies, this will actively promote and improve academic writing skills, ICT skills, collaboration and personal presentation skills.
