College praises class of 2020

Every year graduation marks a special moment in the academic calendar to congratulate the hard work and success of our graduates.

The event is a showcase of achievement where we celebrate student success from a wide range of higher level courses including accountancy, teaching, engineering, childcare, sport, housing and management.

Higher Education students visit New York

Students from the Foundation Degree in Events Management and Foundation Degree in Sport Development and Management visited New York in February this year.

The College students had four great days in the city, with highlights including visiting the Statue of Liberty, Madison Square Garden, and seeing a live basketball game at the Barclays Centre.

“The aim of the trip was to provide a great experience and give insight into sport and facility management from an international perspective,” says James Prosser, Curriculum Leader for Sports.

It’s graduation time for College’s HE learners!

Over 100 Higher Education students from Gower College Swansea have attended a special graduation event at the Brangwyn Hall.

The students donned their caps and gowns to celebrate their achievement in higher level courses such as accountancy, business, science, engineering, childcare, holistics, housing and management.

A brand new Student Union for Gower College Swansea

Gower College Swansea has a brand new Student Union and - overseeing the smooth running of the organisation – a new full time (sabbatical) SU President, Laimis Lisauskas.

Laimis, who was an engineering student at the College before starting in his new role, will work across all campuses and represent all the College’s students. He will lead on events and initiatives and ensure that students’ opinions are fed back to senior management.

Students urge a rethink of ‘fast fashion’

Students from Gower College Swansea’s Llwyn y Bryn Campus have taken over the window of a local charity shop to help raise awareness of ethical fashion.

The Foundation Degree Fashion and Textiles students, alongside lecturer Elinor Franklin, are working in partnership with the Samaritans shop in the Uplands to style and customise a selection of pre-loved outfits.

College celebrates HE graduates

Over 100 Higher Education students from Gower College Swansea recently attended a special graduation event at the Great Hall on Swansea University's Bay Campus.

The students were celebrating achievement in subjects as diverse as accountancy, engineering, leadership and management, sports massage therapies, hair and beauty management, childcare, and health and social care services.
