Gower College Swansea HE Graduation 2023

Around 120 higher education students from Gower College Swansea celebrated success recently at a special graduation event at Swansea Arena.

They were there to celebrate their achievements in a wide range of higher-level courses including business, criminal justice, computing, engineering, and childcare.

“I’m so proud to once again welcome everyone to Swansea Arena where we can celebrate the academic achievements of all of our higher education students,” says Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Jones.

Gower College Swansea sponsors Mumbles Duathlon

Gower College Swansea was the title sponsor again this year for Mumbles Duathlon on 25 March.

Not only did the College sponsor the event but students from its Sports Massage Therapy level 3 and 4 course volunteered at the finished line, easing some very tired muscles. The students volunteer at numerous racing events throughout the year, building up hours of experience for their training.

A couple of Travel and Tourism Level 3 students also volunteered at the event, gaining some valuable experience of events management.

From the Bridge to HE!

It’s always great to hear stories of progression throughout the College and this one is truly amazing!

Back in 2017, Emma Hill was at risk of becoming NEET so she joined our Bridge programme while she thought about which career pathway she wanted to follow. After completing the Bridge course with a DM grade profile, she progressed firstly onto L2 Health and Social Care, and then L2 Engineering Technologies.

Students Start Sustainable Shop

This week, our FdA Fashion & Textile Design students launched an online shop focussed on sustainable fashion.

Amended, a new student collective brand, uses solely sustainable practices at the heart of the design and manufacturing process in order to create bespoke handbags.

The students have created the unique pieces by combining remnants of fabrics, sustainable fabrics, and recycled clothing with zero waste cutting methods.

Celebrating the success of our higher education students

Every year, we celebrate the success of our hard-working higher education students as they complete their higher level programmes.

From events management to engineering and from health and care to computer technology, higher education students across all courses should be very proud of the hard work and dedication that has gone into successfully achieving their qualifications.

College life is the way forward for Sophie

We recently caught up with Childhood Studies student, Sophie, who’s just a few months away from graduating from the College with a foundation degree.

With the lifelong aspiration of becoming a primary school teacher, Sophie’s insistence that she did not want to go to university could have prematurely ended that dream, until her Sixth Form had a visit from Gower College Swansea.
