Gower College Swansea launches new Access to Engineering course for career changers and lifelong learners
Gower College Swansea takes pride in announcing the successful launch of its latest educational offering: the Access to Engineering course. This opportunity is open for enrollment until October half-term, making it a perfect choice for those looking to kickstart a new career or return to education after a break this year.
Access to Higher Education courses are designed to empower individuals aged 19-and-over with the essential skills and qualifications required for successful entry into higher education. Courses welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and life stages.
The current class consists of a dynamic group of ten students, representing the local community, national and international learners. The flexible timetable, featuring classes 3 days a week from 9.30am to 3pm, ensures that students can seamlessly balance their studies with work and family commitments.
The year-long course equips learners with foundational skills in mathematics, science, and various engineering disciplines, paving the way for careers in diverse sectors such as aeronautical, civil, chemical, biomedical, electrical, electronic, mechanical, motorsport, or nuclear engineering. In the Autumn term, learners will receive expert guidance through the UCAS application process. Additionally, exciting workshops, hosted in collaboration with Swansea University, await learners later in the year.
Upon successful completion of the Access course, students can progress to higher levels of education at the College or at a university. Gower College Swansea offers a range of options, including Higher National Certificates (HNC) and Higher National Diplomas (HND) in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as well as a Degree Apprenticeship in Integrated Engineering. These pathways open doors to exciting careers in the growing engineering industry.
