Gower College Swansea has been recognised at the 2025 NCSC Cyber Security Awards.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) supports the most critical organisations in the UK, as well as the wider public sector, industry, SMEs, and the general public.

Peter Scott, the College’s Digital Skills and Innovation Lead, took home the CyberFirst Gold College of the Year Award after attending the NCSC annual academic conference in Leeds.

The award was given in recognition of the outstanding work Gower College Swansea does to support and drive forward cyber security education, and to develop broader tech-related education opportunities such as Microsoft Certified learning pathways.

Gower College Swansea has long been committed to developing the cyber and digital skills of its learners whilst addressing the digital skills gap in wider industry.

Using SudoCyber SudoRange software and working in collaboration with Cyber Wales, the College offers advanced cyber security training, which has resulted in Gold medal success at various Skills Competition Wales events.

Gower College Swansea has also partnered with Microsoft and Stable to certify 127 new Microsoft professionals in various products (Azure, AI Solutions, and Power Platform / Power BI) over the past six months, with plans to focus on cyber security and data solutions throughout 2025.

"I’m thrilled that we have been recognised as the UK CyberFirst Gold College of the Year at the NCSC Awards,” says Paul Kift, Vice Principal for Skills and Partnerships. “This award is testament to the dedication of my colleagues and the invaluable support of our partners. My sincere thanks go to everyone contributing to the development of this critically important practice.”

"Cyber security is a major risk for every organisation, making it essential to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to safeguard themselves and others. Since achieving CyberFirst Gold College status in January 2024, we have remained committed to enhancing our provision - hosting CyberFirst skills competitions and workshops for pupils across Swansea via our School Liaison team, directly delivering CyberFirst courses, and supporting learners in successfully applying for the NCSC Bursary Scheme."

Next up is the delivery of a suite of employer focused Cyber Hygiene training sessions, delivered in partnership with the Wales Cyber Innovation Hub and taking place at Cardiff University in the Spring.
