Overview

This two year course provides individuals working in the chemical and related industries with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to succeed in employment. Learners will develop a range of skills, techniques and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

Key information

  • Access to HE Diploma - Pass
  • A Level - DD
  • BTEC L3 Extended Diploma - PPP
  • BTEC L3 90-Credit Diploma - MM.

Applied Sciences (Chemistry Pathway)

First year

  • Unit 1: Fundamentals of Laboratory Techniques (Mandatory)
  • Unit 2: Scientific Data Handling Approaches and Techniques (Mandatory)
  • Unit 7: Inorganic Chemistry (Mandatory)
  • Unit 8: Organic Chemistry (Mandatory).

Second year

  • Unit 3: Regulation and Quality in the Applied Sciences (Pearson - set)
  • Unit 9: Physical Chemistry 
  • Unit 64: Work Based Investigation
  • Unit 73: Environmental Pollutants and Water Testing.

Progression on to an undergraduate degree in applied chemistry or a related area.
