Overview

This course is a perfect for beginners or an industry professional wishing to add tanning to their existing services. This unit is about providing self-tanning treatments, maintaining health and safety and providing aftercare advice to clients.

Course modules include:

• Health, safety and hygiene
• Preparation of client and work area
• Client consultation and patch testing
• Contra-indications and contra-actions
• Spray tanning technique which will enable you to perform a complete treatment
• Structure of the skin
• Aftercare advice

Key information

No formal qualifications are needed, therefore suitable for beginners. Students must be at least 16 years of age, are required to work on each other and should attend wearing a minimal amount of makeup.

Procedures and techniques are demonstrated by the tutor, learners will then practice the techniques demonstrated on their model. Learners will be assessed on their practical techniques and by written assessment.

Students will be able to provide a spray tanning service to their clients. Students may wish to apply for any full or part time beauty course at Gower College Swansea.

All students must attend a compulsory guidance session prior to enrolling. Please call us on 01792 284049 for dates and times. On the evening prior to the course, students must exfoliate their skin. On the day of the course you must not wear deodorant, make-up or moisturiser. Students must wear loose dark clothing and flip flops.
