Foundation Degree in Sports Development and Management

Course Overview

The general focus of this programme is to enable students to gain vocational experience whilst developing an expansive knowledge of sports management issues and concepts within the context of the wider leisure industry environment.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 80 UCAS points - the UCAS code for this course is S85Q

Recognition of prior learning
The University of Wales Trinity Saint David welcomes applications on the basis of prior learning, further details can be found on their website.
 

Course Delivery

Students will also work towards coaching qualifications, a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification and a safety steward qualification.

Work experience is a vital part of the course with six placements completed during the two years, as well as two curriculum trips and field trips each year. A DBS check may be required for the placement element of this course at an approximate cost of £44.

Progression Opportunities

The course gives students the relevant skills and abilities for a career in the private, public and voluntary sectors of the sports, leisure, events and health and fitness industries.
 
Alternatively, students can join the final year of the BA (Hons) Sports Management degree programme at the University of Trinity Saint David.

Additional Information

Most students will pay £2900 per year (course fees are £9000 - some of this is paid by Welsh Government for Welsh students. For 17/18, students will need to pay or get a tuition fee loan for the first £3900. The college is offering a £1000 bursary towards this for full time courses starting in September 2017.)
