Overview

The Pre Foundation course aims to develop your personal and basic skills with the aim for you to go onto a vocational qualification within the college.

The course enables students to develop the necessary skills to access a mainstream course whilst expanding upon their confidence and social skills.

A strong emphasis is therefore placed on the teaching of essential skills such as literacy and numeracy at Entry 3 level.

Entry Requirements

No qualifications are required but students are expected to be working at or towards Entry 3. All students will be expected to attend an interview with the course tutor and complete an online initial assessment in literacy, numeracy and social skills.

Course Delivery

The Pre Foundation course follows the EDEXCEL vocational qualification and will allow learners to undertake such units as: Developing Creative Media Skills; Researching a Tourist Destination; Working in a Team; Planning an Enterprise Activity; Career Progression and IT.

Learners will also complete City & Guilds Essential Skills at Entry 3 level.

You will also given the opportunity to follow vocational options in Creative Industries, Engineering, Sport / Public Services, Catering, Hairdressing and Health and Social Care.

Progression Opportunities

The course is designed to allow students to progress to mainstream college courses in a vocational subject of their choice. The qualifications gained will also be valuable for entry into the world of work, should this be the preferred career route.

Early applications to mainstream college courses are encouraged to ensure that students have the best possible opportunity to gain a college place for the following academic year.
